Creation and Administrative Reform
Ivano-Frankivsk Raion was formed in July 2020, following a significant reform of the administrative divisions within Ukraine. This reform aimed to streamline local governance and improve administrative efficiency.

Subdivisions and Hromadas
Upon its establishment, Ivano-Frankivsk Raion included 20 hromadas, which are local administrative units. These hromadas were formed from the merger of five previously existing raions: Bohorodchany, Halych, Rohatyn, Tlumach, and Tysmenytsia, along with Ivano-Frankivsk and Burshtyn Municipalities.
The hromadas within the raion include Bilshivtsi, Bohorodchany, Bukachivtsi, Burshtyn, Dubivtsi, Dzvyniach, Halych, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lysets, Obertyn, Olesha, Rohatyn, Solotvyn, Stari Bohorodchany, Tlumach, Tysmenytsia, Uhryniv, Yamnytsia, Yezupil, and Zahvizdia.
