Dniprorudne is a city located in the Vasylivka Raion of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine, with a population of 17,736 as of 2022. It has been recognized as a city since 1970 and has played a significant role during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

History
Dniprorudne has held city status since 1970.
In the early stages of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the city was captured by Russian forces.
On 13 March 2022, the Ukrainian government reported the abduction of Dniprorudne's mayor, Yevhen Matvieyev, by the Russian military. Matvieyev had been actively protesting against the Russian occupation, including a demonstration on 27 February aimed at preventing Russian tanks from entering the city.
On 4 December 2024, the Ukrainian government announced that Matvieyev had died in Russian captivity under torture, and his body was subsequently returned to Ukraine.
Demographics
As of January 1989, Dniprorudne had a population of 22,773.
By 2001, the population had decreased to 21,271. The demographic composition is predominantly Ukrainian, with Russians representing the largest minority. The city exhibits a nearly equal distribution of Ukrainian and Russian speakers.
