Historical Background

The village of Belovodskoye was founded in the spring of 1868 by 12 families of back settlers originating from the Astrakhan Governorate of the Russian Empire. The name 'Belovodskoye' translates to 'white water' in Russian, derived from the nearby Ak-Suu river, which also means 'white water' in Kyrgyz.

The initial settlers were later joined by individuals from various regions of the Russian Empire, including the Voronezh and Orel Governorates, as well as peasants from Poltava, Kharkov, and Saratov Governorates. The settlers communicated in a dialect that combined elements of both Russian and Ukrainian languages.

Cultural Connections

Notably, the village is recognized as the birthplace of Vitali Klitschko, a prominent Ukrainian politician and former world boxing champion, underscoring its relevance to Ukrainian heritage.
